The Opportunity in BE…coming

Becoming: to undergo change or development… to change from one state of existence to another. Its root word “come” is a verb of motion from the Old English cumin, which means “to move with the purpose of reaching, or so as to reach, some point; to arrive by movement or progression.” That’s us, right? Boom – Let’s do this!! We love the world of health & wellbeing because it’s all about action, moving forward, making positive changes…

Hold on though. If we take a moment to separate them out, the prefix “be” provides echoes of the opportunity to avert our eyes from the constant need to “do” and simply “be.” While we may naturally gravitate toward moving with purpose, we miss the mark if consistently leaping past the “be” on our way to “become.” Victor Frankl (Psychiatrist, Holocaust survivor and author of Man’s Search for Meaning) noted “Between the stimulus and response, there is a space. And in that space lies our freedom and power to choose our responses. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”

What if we added a microsecond of time – some actual space – between “be” and “coming” to create a new term: BE…coming? What if we integrated BE…coming into the way we see our world and live our lives? Over the next several weeks, we’ll be exploring the opportunity present within this unique combination as we move toward BE…coming. We are hoping it plays a positive role for you and those within your circle of influence.

Some of the key elements of BE…coming we’ll be discovering together in the weeks to come include: Choosing free will… Creating a clear, yet pliable, personal vision… Debt analysis (of not only $$ but also time & health)… 50/500 and 1000 day targets… The BE-ing lens… and identifying default modes & guardrails. Yes – we’ll continue providing practical highlights of the Catalyst Cornerstones as in the past but look forward to exploring the concept and journey of BE…coming with you as we move forward. Thank you for joining us on this journey together.
